Anxiety is a body’s natural response to stress which shows feeling apprehensive fear about the outcomes of any certain situation. It is an apprehensive fear about future or near future or current situations and their consequences. It builds slowly and increases its intensity when approaching that particular event or situations 

Persisting anxious or nervous feelings for more than six months which is interfering with life and disturbing is considered to be an anxiety disorder. Studies estimated to be 18.5% per 1000 population suffer from anxiety disorders in India which is the most common mental health disorder. It is a form of emotional disorder that affects anyone at any age

What are the types of anxiety disorders?

It is normal to feel anxious before doing something new or taking up an important test or attending an event etc. which is a type of feel that motivates you to do better even though it feels unpleasant and it just comes and goes without altering or affecting everyday life. But in Anxiety disorder, the feeling of fear stays within for a long time affecting your abilities to think, do, and perceive situations poorly leaving you with a feeling of fear, dissatisfaction, and stress.

While in extreme cases individuals also stop doing things that they usually love to do and enjoy most. Individuals might also develop certain types of fears and phobias making them disabled to act on most things. If it is not treated at the right time it might get worse and lead to other disorders as well.

What are the most common signs and symptoms of Anxiety?

The feeling of anxiety differs from person to person ranging from a feeling of butterflies in the stomach to a racing heart, some people also experience no control and a feeling of disconnectedness between mind and body losing their control. Some people experience intense stress, worry, nightmares, panic attacks, painful repetitive thoughts or memories, and overthinking that they can’t control or stop on their own.
